Tennessee Unarmed Guard Renewal Requirements (Every 2 Years)

Unarmed security guard registrations in Tennessee must be renewed biennially to remain valid. Renewal is completed through the TDCI CORE system and does not require additional training unless an employer chooses to require it.

Below is the complete renewal process in proper sequence.

01 Confirm eligibility to renew

Ensure your registration has not expired beyond the allowable renewal window and that you still meet all background requirements.

02 Log into the TDCI CORE system

Access your existing account to begin the renewal process and verify your personal information is current.

03 Upload a current passport-style photo

Provide a recent color headshot with a plain background to update your registration card.

04 Submit renewal application and fee

Complete the online renewal form and pay the required state renewal fee through CORE.

05 Await state approval

TDCI reviews your application and background status before issuing your updated unarmed guard registration card.

Additional Notes for Your Students

• No additional training is required by the state for unarmed renewal.
• Fingerprints are not repeated unless the state cannot retrieve prior prints.
