About this training

The ALERRT Active Shooter Response program is the nationally recognized standard for evidence‑based active attack response training. Developed through extensive research, after‑action analysis, and real‑world incident data, ALERRT provides first responders and security professionals with the skills, decision‑making frameworks, and tactical competencies required to rapidly stop violent threats and save lives during active shooter events.

The course immerses students in a progressive training model that begins with foundational principles—rapid threat assessment, solo‑officer and team‑based movement, threshold evaluation, room entry, and contact‑driven tactics—and builds toward dynamic, scenario‑based exercises that replicate the stress, uncertainty, and time‑compressed decision cycles of real attacks. Students learn how to prioritize life safety, move with purpose, communicate effectively under duress, and coordinate with arriving units to establish a unified, efficient response.

ALERRT emphasizes speed, precision, and decisive action, teaching responders how to locate and neutralize the threat while minimizing risk to victims, officers, and bystanders. The curriculum integrates tactical medical considerations, rescue task force concepts, and post‑engagement responsibilities, ensuring participants understand the full operational picture from first contact to incident stabilization.

Depending on the specific ALERRT module (Level I, Level II, Solo Officer Response, Integrated Response, or Train‑the‑Trainer), students may train with marking cartridges, force‑on‑force scenarios, and structured performance evaluations that reinforce correct tactics and highlight areas for improvement. The program is designed for law enforcement, armed security, and public safety personnel who require a proven, data‑driven approach to active shooter intervention.

Completion of the course equips participants with the confidence, tactical clarity, and operational discipline needed to respond effectively to the most time‑critical and high‑risk events encountered in modern public safety.
